Dual Redundant Ethernet Interface Card (DUREIC) envisages redundancy in Ethernet communication systems in various aerospace and defence systems using a protocol defined in IEC 62439-3 Standard called Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) to solve the problem of single point failure in networks. DUREIC works on Ethernet Layer in the stack and the redundancy is invisible to the application layer as well as network elements like switches.
The IP and hardware solution that is built can either exist as an individual card in the existing systems or as a standalone retrofit system that does not affect the existing electronic sub-systems in the solution. DUREIC extends PRP Standard to meet Indian defence systems requirements such as
supporting double the number of source nodes, Jumbo packet size Ethernet Packets. DUREIC also provides health and statistics of Ethernet packets per source node level enabling comprehensive traffic analysis and improved system debuggability.
